Sourdough Bread Class for Teens
Students will learn about the history of sourdough bread-making, and take home a loaf to bake at home later that day.
As part of our home-schooling classes for youth, this class is reserved for students age 10 thru 18. Students will learn the basics of baking sourdough bread, the history of sourdough and the health benefits of fermenting. Each student is asked to bring their own 5×9 loaf pan, which they will fill-up with a loaf of bread that they make in the class and take home to let rise in their oven. The bread will be ready to bake that evening to enjoy a fresh loaf of sourdough for dinner! Starter will be available for sale for those who wish to continue making bread at home. Parents can enjoy sitting in a comfortable shaded area near the kitchen, or enjoy a stroll around our beautiful gardens as their child goes into the kitchen for the class. Cost of the class is $12, the extra loaf of bread is $5.
