Plant Seminole Pumpkins in your garden with these seeds! The seeds are harvested from the Traditional Lifestyle Creations permaculture garden. Grow Zones 8-11 Prefers moist but well drained soil and full sun. Requires frequent watering. The freeze tolerance is poor. Will grow as a potted plant in a large pot with room to spread. Will also grow on a trellis or tree and pumpkin will grow hanging. Hanging pumpkins will be teardrop shape and round if grown on the ground. Harvest is generally 4 months after planting. Ripe pumpkins range from 4 up to 12 pounds at harvest. Seminole pumpkin is a source of vitamin A, K, E, B6 and C. Minerals include copper, iron, magnesium and potassium. Seminole pumpkin can be baked or roasted and can be used in any recipe calling for pumpkin such as soup, curry, bread, pies and baked goods. The cooked pumpkin puree can be frozen for longer term use. The consistency of the Seminole pumpkin is very similar to butternut squash but is sweeter. It is still a good substitute in any butternut squash recipe.
